East squads flex muscle, OCS keeps rolling

Owasso and Tulsa Union came to the OKC area to face a strong Norman North team and an undefeated Putnam City North squad, respectively.

And they had enjoyable rides home, after the Rams jumped out to a 28-0 lead and rolled 45-20, while Union pummeled the Panthers 63-6.

In Class 6A-I, Mustang scored a big win at Edmond North, 34-20, while unbeaten Westmoore barely stayed that way, with Norman pushing the Jaguars to overtime before Westmoore picked up a 34-28 triumph. Also getting a big win was Edmond Memorial, which held off Edmond Santa Fe 40-33.

Also scoring one of the biggest wins of the week was Oklahoma Christian School, which took down Millwood 30-12.

Some of this week’s big games include:

Midwest City at Stillwater

The Bombers have been strong since a close opening loss to Booker T. Washington, while the Pioneers have been perhaps the biggest surprise in the class in rolling to a 4-0 start. They’ll have to go the rest of the way without injured QB Braxton Noble, though.

Westmoore at Edmond Santa Fe

Two teams fighting for playoff positioning both had close games last week. Each has common opponents in the other two Moore squads, who Santa Fe beat by a total of 32 points and Westmoore took down by 42.

Purcell at Jones

The Longhorns knocked off Hennessey after the Eagles beat 3A No. 1 Kingfisher the week before, propelling them further forward in the 3A hierarchy. Purcell has bounced back from an opening loss with three dominant wins. This is big in the district chase.
